A close up of the cleaned up main gen commutator and brushgear of Davy. This photo makes an interesting comparison with the one earlier on in the news section. The com has been skimmed in situ and the areas where the segments had welded together have been undercut. As can be seen there are still a few slight marks in a couple of areas but overall the com is now in a much better state than before. Note the new carbon brushes fitted in place, the originals had been smashed up quite badly due to flash damage to the commutator, hence the need for skimming.
