Driver Experience Courses
The Driver Experience courses have been temporarily suspended
Courses already booked up to August 31st are not affected and will run as per normal.
Driver Experience Courses offer the chance to operate a diesel locomotive at our base, the scenic Llangollen Railway in North Wales. We cater for many different tastes and are happy to discuss individual requirements.
Courses can be a single round trip to a whole day's driving. All experience levels are welcome and our drivers are friendly and patient.
Examples of typical courses include:
Light-engine locomotive or shunter driving
Locomotive hauled empty coaching stock
Locomotive or shunter-hauled freight trains

A short video clip filmed aboard 37240 during a course can be downloaded here.(2.17MB). Taken inside Berwyn Tunnel, it gives an idea of what it is like to have 1750hp in your right hand!. The noise is so loud the soundtrack is slightly distorted but it is well worth viewing anyway.
